Saturday’s attempted assassination of former President Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania was a shocking reminder that the incendiary political language and lawfare directed against him by Democrats might convince the mentally unstable among us to seek some meager validation for their miserable lives by peering down through a rifle sight. President Biden himself has pledged to dial down the divisive rhetoric, a promise that will turn him all but mute as he now must try to form cogent arguments in favor of continuing the policies he and his Democratic colleagues have pursued with both vigor and an almost total lack of foresight over the past decade or two.

The policies and attitudes of Democrats have been, to be both blunt and honest, a festering problem for America and Americans since they decided to ditch expensive old school liberalism in favor of crazy expensive cultural Marxism and climate change cultism. Their party’s 2024 platform, although clothed in lawyerly and anodyne language, promises to turn the volume up to 11 on a range of rage-filled efforts to turn America into the kind of Godless gulag when men are women, criminals are freedom fighters, parents are enemies of the State, screeching replaces conversation, personal responsibility is discouraged, and oppressive government control of our lives and thoughts is supposedly a paradise on earth.

Calling every Republican a fascist, which perhaps reached its apogee in tasteless and puerile The New Republic cover art that specifically equated Donald Trump with Adolf Hitler has for many years allowed Democrats to avoid the peculiar problem of defending policies that are indefensible. This has been a desperately necessary strategy because a look at what Democrats have been doing—and are pledged to continue doing if they are able to retain their power after the 2024 elections—points to messaging misery during the months leading up to the November elections. Consider a short list of what in in store for America should Democrats cling to power:

Pursuing a heedless commitment to open— or, at least, exceedingly porous—national borders that have flooded our country with millions upon millions illegal immigrants since Biden took office.

Supporting a criminal justice system that makes life easier for criminals and almost impossible for the police—without any regard for the safety of Americans.

Turning a blind eye to uncontrolled government spending that is saddling our nation with crippling debt and destroying any hope we might have for a secure future.

Pushing public school teachers and staff to have explicit conversations about sexuality and gender identity with the minor children in their care—with or without the knowledge and permission of their parents.

Forcing upon us illogical, counterproductive, and—quite frankly—insane economic and energy policies, ones that are both bankrupting our country and erasing our freedoms, in the name of “saving” Americans from climate change. 

Locking America into a disastrous foreign policy stance that combines abject cluelessness and unwarranted bellicosity, which perhaps explains why there seems nary a corner of the world that is now at peace—and discussions of a possible descent into World War 3 are no longer considered fantastical.

Encouraging—nay, facilitating—non-citizens and illegal immigrants to vote in national and local elections by making every possible effort to relax the requirements for voter eligibility.

Refusing to recognize that their paymasters in our country’s teacher unions are the implacable enemies of desperately necessary education reforms, ones that must include school choice and vouchers in order to break the monopolistic backs of the “failure factories” that continue to rob generation after generation of students of the learning necessary for happy and productive lives.

Insisting on sorting—and dividing—every facet of our daily lives and activities by race in an effort to foment wild hatreds, corrosive suspicions, and unwarranted guilt, while claiming racism pervades every level of government, business, education, and entertainment despite a lack of evidence to support their wild assertions.

Denigrating our Constitutional commitment to free speech and pushing for the mandatory censorship of ideas that run counter to their close-minded vision of a utopia where dissent is both silenced and punished.

Embracing, to round out this sorry and depressing list, every destructive aspect of a virulent and vicious anti-American worldview that both gladdens the hearts of our nation’s enemies and repels the average citizen.

Democratic priorities seem to enjoy, if polling is to be trusted, the firm support of a Woke minority of Americans who are firmly convinced (or brainwashed into believing) that only they have the wisdom to rule our nation. Because many of these voters are clustered in Blue bastions such as coastal California, New York City, Chicago, and Seattle, it seems clear that putting together a winning coalition for a national race for the Presidency in 2024 was already going to be a challenge. 

Given that pockets of fanatics will continue to vote for extremists with a parenthetical ‘D” after their names on any ballot, Democrats will likely continue to enjoy a firm base in the House, although gaining either a majority or a workable minority is likely out of reach in 2024 because Independents seems to be turning toward more moderate and conservative candidates. Control of the Senate, an institution where terms are staggered specifically to avoid any abrupt change in Party control, will probably be the best option for a Democratic power base in the short term. 

However, a return to a Trump Presidency will certainly reverse a slew of executive orders, fundamentally change the priorities of the federal bureaucracy, transform our military leadership, weed out the America haters in our Foreign Service, insist on accountability at every level of our dysfunctional educational institutions, change the direction of our court systems, give those working in law enforcement and public safety the respect they are due, and finally take the fat foot of the federal government off the throats of average Americans.

There are moments in our nation’s history that both clarify the threats facing America and strengthen the resolve of all patriots. This past week’s attempted assassination of former President Trump is just such a moment. Shame on the traitors—politicians, celebrities, and other assorted Leftist idiots—who openly hoped for someone to attempt to kill him.

It’s woe for all discombobulated Democrats who can no longer use inflammatory personal attacks, ones that certainly encourage violent wackos, in place of reasoned debate—and now must attempt to defend a wretched record of policy failures that might be without precedent in the history of American elections. 

The next few months will be ones where our nation is facing perhaps the clearest choice ever between two utterly disparate visions for America. The decision is now ours to make, and we must have the strength to resist those who will use every tool at their disposal to maintain their death grip on the power they are using to cripple and crush our country.
