A Question For Kamala

The late Senator Howard Baker asked one of the most famous questions in American political history during the investigation of the Watergate scandal in 1973: “What did the President know, and when did he know it.”

Before anyone gets too excited about Kamala Harris blithely and seamlessly leap frogging Joe Biden for the Democratic Presidential nomination, we need a clear answer from her regarding a single, important question: “What did the Vice President know (about the President’s dementia), and when did she know it?”

With each passing day the trickle of long-hidden truths about Joe Biden’s cognitive impairments, which were on painful display during his debate with Donald Trump, are becoming an unstoppable torrent. Seeing that the elaborate cover up of his obvious mental difficulties is no longer a viable option, leading Democrats, White House insiders, and important campaign donors are joining a chorus asserting that Joe Biden’s problems are due to neither jet lag, a bad night of sleep, nor a bad cold. We are instead witnessing the cruelty of old age robbing him of the ability to form coherent thoughts, hold on to memories, and stay on task. It is very, very sad to see; it is, however, undeniably true.

This now being out in the open, the American people deserve a full accounting from all concerned about their complicity in putting the security of our nation at risk by concealing President Biden’s infirmities and surreptitiously transferring decision making powers to those outside the Constitutional chain of command.

Vice President Harris clearly had a bird’s eye view of what was transpiring with her boss during the course of his administration, and the question now arises as to who has been making key military, economic, and domestic policy decisions since January of 2021. Given how advanced President Biden’s cognitive deterioration has now been revealed to be, the obvious questions regarding her complicity in colluding to conceal this fact from Congressional leaders and important allies cannot be ignored.

Her responsibilities to our nation and people far outweighed any measly political considerations when we are talking about the most powerful single office in the world, and if the President had, at some point in the past, become unable to discharge his responsibilities, Vice President Harris had a clear Constitutional duty to speak with leaders in the House, Senate, and the Cabinet to determine whether it was necessary to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove him from office for the sake of our nation and the security of the world as a whole. Her obvious failure to do her duty speaks to a lack of  judgment that is incredibly worrisome and calls into question her readiness for the Oval Office.

Her allies, hoping to ease Joe Biden out of the way with a minimum of fuss, will resist any effort to have Kamala Harris explain why she chose to ignore President Biden’s slide into senility and laugh at questions regarding her own dereliction of her Constitutional duties.

Americans deserve forthright and honest answers from her—and others in the Biden administration. Moreover, if the President has been growing ever more disconnected from reality with every passing day, we need to know who has actually been making the tough calls in a dangerous and complex geopolitical landscape where our nation’s enemies have shown no reluctance to use deadly force. It would also be both useful and revealing to find out who has been responsible for disastrous domestic policies that have opened our borders, ballooned our national debt, and sent inflation skyrocketing if our nation’s President has been unable to fulfill his duties.

For far too long we have been kept in the dark concerning the stewardship of our nation, and the disrespect shown to us by those now in power is a stunning indictment of their shortsightedness and arrogance. We both need and deserve an immediate bi-partisan investigation that must feature testimony from the Vice President regarding her own role in colluding to deceive our nation and allies—especially if she hopes to one day soon be our President.
