Although the many gradations of Leftists might disagree about certain political tactics and economic policies, they hold two truths to be self-evident: The police must be defunded and all prisons closed.

These ideas are puzzling to the vast majority of Americans, who understand that without law enforcement there are, in fact, no actual laws. Decreeing, for example, that theft is illegal means little if thieves are allowed to escape arrest and (presumably) punishment for their crimes. Moreover, the habit of failing to prosecute and incarcerate criminals makes it likely that committing crimes will become a lifestyle for some. Although many obey the law because they are good and moral people, just as many people are good—but not moral—simply because they fear the consequences inherent in breaking the law.

Nonetheless, it must be understood, if we are ever to understand what drives those who consistently champion the lawbreakers and ignore the victims, that Liberals see crime as an outcome of entrenched societal injustice, which strips the criminal of all other options and transforms our felons into sympathetic—if not quasi-heroic—figures worthy of our support.

Liberals believe pervasive inequity drives its victims to a life of crime, so it is, therefore, acceptable deferred justice for them to strike back at the system that oppressed them. This leap of Liberal logic—which is illogical to most Americans—requires that all property crimes be overlooked and many crimes against individuals, up to and including rape and murder, be contextualized into revolutionary acts against the Capitalists, property owners, White Supremacists, Fascists, and other assorted villains who deserve to suffer for their many crimes against the poor, women, the gender confused, and people of color. Every day is, in other words, a hunting season where Liberals are tracking the enemies of the people.

The list of those whom it is, therefore, permissible to hate, punish, and kill runs in a straight line from Donald Trump, who is apparently the encapsulation of all that is evil in America, straight down to anyone who has achieved some measure of personal success outside the sacrosanct precincts of academia, environmentalism, and the entertainment industry Left, which is all somewhat disturbing to those outside the insular Liberal bubble. Moreover, the ethics driven by these beliefs turn out to be highly situational and based on criteria that seem a tad convoluted to anyone who hasn’t benefitted from an advanced degree in the Humanities over the past several decades.

An oil company field worker is evil; the CEO of a business manufacturing windmills is good. A Straight, White woman playing basketball in the WNBA is suspect; a Black lesbian is beyond reproach. A Black professor denouncing bigotry is a role model; a White professor exposing obvious academic fraud by a Black professor must be fired. A mother supporting her transgender daughter’s elective mastectomy is celebrated; another mother who worries about the lifelong consequences of irreversible surgery for her child is a monster. A woman who abandons—or even kills—her children is simply seeking her freedom away from the patriarchy; the woman who stays at home and cares for her family is a laughable “trad wife” who is too stupid to even be pitied.

Unfortunately, the violent and irresponsible are, in the mind of the committed Liberal, always freedom fighters battling economic and social injustices heaped upon them by an unremittingly cruel nation and its totalitarian minions, so they must be assisted in every possible way to continue their quests. This includes attacking police and federal agents performing their duties, electing prosecutors with permissive attitudes towards crime, and flooding social media with defenses of people who are being treated unfairly by the so-called “carceral state” that insists on locking up those who are apparently victimized by the bigotries woven into the fabric of our country and its history.

It matters little whether the person breaking into your home, gleefully gang raping your daughter, or carjacking you on the way to work can adequately demonstrate their own personal victimization. Generational and historical traumas explain what is otherwise wrong and unforgivable to the uninitiated American but is plainly deferred justice to any Woke Liberal who believes all crimes are the inevitable outcomes of institutionalized bigotries. In fact, with the assistance of a powerful system of indoctrination and censorship operated by the government, these bigotries can be eliminated altogether and—Abracadabra!—the need for police, prosecutors, and prisons will vanish. Failure to believe in the truth of these propositions merely proves the need for you to be shamed for your fascism until your attitude changes or, if all else fails, are shunned into obscurity so that your retrograde beliefs no longer interfere with the necessary seizure of all wealth and power by a benevolent state apparatus—that only wants everyone to be happy.

Got that, you unrepentant bigot?

This constellation of beliefs also helps to explain the Liberal love affair with illegal immigrants, who are (of course) all innocent victims fleeing oppression in their own countries and deserving of access to free housing, free food, free education, and free money, which is extracted from the Capitalists to compensate illegals for both the many injustices suffered elsewhere and the trauma of having to now live in a nation full of bigots. If you’ve ever wondered why it is impossible to argue with a Liberal, this elastic and questionable theory regarding the need for open borders and unending taxpayer generosity pretty much sums up the problem.

In short, personal responsibility and accountability is always erased by the power of the outside forces that shape us and oppress us, for we are mere flotsam bobbing in an ocean of hatreds and injustices without either agency or choice. Crime is the direct result of bigotry, so those who commit the crimes are, in fact, the true victims, and to doubt this so-called “truth” is proof of your guilt and complicity in fomenting the bigotries that cause crime.

It all makes perfect sense, right?
