Democrats Delaying The Inevitable

There are a number of new and controversial policies now being pushed by the Trump administration. However, regardless whether we are talking about immigration, education, birthright citizenship, government spending, tariffs, DEI, healthcare, voter ID, abortion, public education, any of a number of regional wars, or public safety, there is a dully predictable path for each issue at the present time:

  1. Said policy, whatever it may be, is denounced as racist, stupid, or un-Constitutional (many times all three) by Democrats.
  2. Various “experts” are trotted out to explain whysaid policy, whatever it may be, is racist, stupid, or un-Constitutional (many times all three).
  3. An immediate injunction is requested, and a Federal judge (often, but not always, an Obama or Biden appointee) pronounces they are halting said policy, whatever it might be, because it is racist, stupid, or un-Constitutional (many times all three).
  4. Democrats repeat as necessary to avoid any Trump policy from ever being implemented because it is racist, stupid, or un-Constitutional (many times all three).

Well, you get the idea….

Those still riding on the leaky ship of liberalism are frantically bailing to avoid sinking beneath the Red Wave of last November’s elections. Now sitting on the wrong side of public opinion on a host of so-called “80/20 issues” with American voters, whether it be fighting against the deportation of the millions of illegal (and barely legal) immigrants that stormed our borders during the Biden administration or insisting it is important to teach 2nd graders about butt plugs, Democrats and their allies have determined that stalling any change whatsoever with the assistance of compliant judges is their best tactic, perhaps hoping that these same courts will allow them to continue the “lawfare” that has been waged against Donald Trumpwithout regard for judicial ethics for nearly a decade.

Given the collapsing support for Democrats nationally—one recent poll indicates a scant 23% of voters approve of the Party and their policies—ongoing attempts to obstruct and delay President Trump’s agenda do not so far seem to be translating into winning back the favor of the majority of Americans. Accusing Donald Trump of every crime under the sun helped Democrats to impede the progress of his first term in office, so it probably seems logical to them that continuing along this same path will stall the progress of his second term, regardless of the will of our nation’s voters.

The self-styled “Resistance” certainly hopes running the same playbook of continuous lawsuits and social media hate mongering will eventually turn into a triumphal Democrat return to power (and an end to DOGE investigations of wasteful government spending). However, the political atmosphere is now starkly different than it was before we were subjected to crazy Covid-19 overreach and the dismal, dementia-driven Presidency of Joe Biden, which raises doubts about the efficacy of a political strategy that is based on engendering fear—and fear alone.

Americans are today a lot less willing to be stampeded by inflammatory language and apocalyptic predictions, so wailing about the imminent threat of concentration camps or the end of democracy does not pack the same punch as it did when Hillary Clinton and the Democrats were busy spreading the Russiagate hoax—aided by the legacy media back in the days when they still had some credibility. At a certain point repeatedly warning voters that the world is going to end (again and again and again) loses it impact.

Although there will always always be a troubled cohort of our nation’s populace that is either easily excited or terminally immature, this is not a large enough slice of the electorate to put a Party in power. Sadly, Democrats today seem to be stuck placating their Party’s extremists, which is turning off the moderates they desperately want to attract. Needing to move to the middle, but terrified of the blowback from the fanatical Trump haters who now are the core of their supporters, Democrats are stuck reflexively opposing every Republican policy without being able to propose any agenda of their own that is not built around the same policies that produced last year’s electoral rout.

Having apparently convinced themselves, at least for the moment, that Americans secretly want more wasteful spending, more racial division, more illegal immigrants, more gender-bending indoctrination, and more street crime, it is unsurprising Democrats are struggling to win over voters who are not those same Liberal judges they are currently relying upon to help them cling to some remaining shred of relevance.
