About Andrew

Andrew M. Wilk

Andrew M. Wilk is a writer, educator, and lifelong observer of American life.

He earned his B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. from the University of Connecticut. He holds a Professional Educator License in Illinois and has taught at both the secondary and college levels. His passion for history, civic responsibility, and principled thought has shaped countless students over the course of his teaching career.

Over the years, Andrew’s classrooms have become spaces where students are encouraged to think independently, speak truthfully, and engage meaningfully with the world around them. Former students often recall his deep respect for critical thinking — and his belief that understanding the past is key to shaping a better future.

Outside of education, Andrew has worked extensively in the private sector in roles spanning advertising, journalism, and healthcare administration. This unique blend of experiences informs his writing – balancing analytical insight with grounded pragmatism and moral perspective.

He lives in Illinois with his wife, Merridith, a photographer and his creative collaborator. Together they have built a life rooted in curiosity, clarity, and unapologetic common sense.

Whether addressing criminal justice reform, the economy, or the erosion of public trust, Andrew’s writing challenges readers to confront difficult truths with open eyes — and to consider what it means to live in a just and functioning society.

Andrew is also the author of the novel A Day at the Fair with Chili Boy, available now on Amazon.
