One of the most effective and well-known marketing techniques is as simple as it is nefarious: Make your target audience feel bad about themselves and offer a solution that will improve their fragile self-esteem.
Most of the personal care industry, for example, is built on this simple premise. For the longest time women (and now some men) have been a lucrative and obvious target for advertisers, and the pitches focus on insecurities about your body. Hate your hair, eyes, skin, teeth, abs, legs or some other part of yourself? We have an outrageously expensive and possibly harmful product that will boost your self-confidence—by helping you to hide your humiliating flaws.
This same strategy works just as well when it comes to politics, and this perhaps helps to explain the phenomenon of Americans who hate themselves and their country so much that they are willing to jump on board for any self-denigrating and self-destructive tactic or concept that harms their communities, children, and our nation as a whole. The degree to which so many supposedly rational Americans are wracked with guilt for the crime of being at least moderately successful at managing their lives—or, conversely, filled with righteous rage because they are not, which gives them a sense of common cause with “victims” of our nation’s many presumed injustices—is a remarkable political achievement.
Sixty full years ago Democrat President Lyndon Johnson and Congress decided to begin the process of making work optional in America with their expansive “Great Society” spending. This move to expand the welfare state has wrought a whirlwind of societal and cultural changes and discord that has made voting for a living—by choosing those candidates who will keep supporting unending cash on demand—a viable career option and destroyed the very people Democrats professed to be helping. However, the liberal fixation on blaming everyone for everything continues unabated, unexamined—and unbearably annoying.
Convincing many seemingly sane Americans that they are financially responsible for the mistakes of total strangers has been one of the most amazing social and cultural magic tricks of the past few decades. Knowing absolutely nothing about the life choices and personal character of people who insist all of their problems are due to bigotry, patriarchy, or cruel capitalism, every flavor of Liberals, Socialists, Marxists, and Communists now infecting America demands we pour crazy cash and unearned advantage on groups and individuals that have likely disadvantaged themselves by shunning education, personal responsibility, and hard work while embracing mind-altering substances, promiscuous sex, and self-pity.
Not to be rude, but why should any of us be compelled to bear the burdens imposed on society by addicts, idiots, and the terminally indolent? Having taken a Sociology course in college that convinced them a sharp kick in the behind for lazy losers is callous and unfair, a half century of abundantly compassionate useful idiots have convinced themselves that an amazing array of welfare payments is the solution of choice. The plain truth that we have been paying for many decades of fraud and generational poverty that have harmed families, destroyed communities, and impoverished our country concerns them not all. Anyone who points out the problems inherent in continuing to fund dysfunction is obviously a cruel bigot—end of discussion.
Women are particularly susceptible to this nonsense because, as a whole, they are far more concerned about their social standing within their peer group than men, and their nurturing instincts can be easily perverted by well-designed narratives of victimization that encourage them to ride to the rescue of people who often do not deserve to be rescued because they are felons, fools, or fakers. However, there are now many men who are (perhaps to appease their bug-eyed liberal wives) all-in on paying more and more taxes so that every drug abuser, illegal immigrant, moron, and petty thief throughout our nation can sleep soundly at night.
I firmly believe that we all have a responsibility to be our brother’s keeper (whether in fact or metaphor) because almost everyone hits a rough patch in the road and will need some short-term government assistance to keep the lights on and food on the table. However, if your brother wants to spend his whole life lying on your couch watching porn and smoking weed while emptying the refrigerator, you are harming rather than helping by enabling that kind of shiftless and injurious behavior. It is sometimes, of course, the case that mental illness is to blame because it is difficult to be motivated if you are distracted by the voices in your head or struggling with clinical depression, but if your mental illness boils down to an aversion to getting off your butt and hustling for a living like everyone else because work is a drag and no one recognizes how special you are, the sympathy of most Americans is going to be severely lacking.
Now utterly shameless about their agenda and offering openly Communist/Socialist candidates for public office in cities and states across America, it is even more important for Democrats to push a narrative that holds the productive responsible for the stupidity and misery of others due to “bigotry” that often is merely a desperate plea for restoring accountability and rationality to government assistance programs that operate like runaway trains spewing cash in all directions with minimal oversight and maximum fiscal damage.
Remember that every bit of power and legitimacy the Democrats are desperately clinging to will collapse like a house of cards if enough Americans wake up and realize they been played by complete fools by clever propagandists who have used a tried and true Madison Avenue technique to convince them that their work ethic, self-sacrifice, and focus on the safety of their families is actually unjust. If anyone ever tries to tell you that brainwashing doesn’t work, check out the TikTok videos piled high with guilt, self-abasement, and hatred posted by the victims of Wokeness—and mourn for America.
